x Artist Andy Hayward at www.bgallery.co.uk

I have been painting for well over 40 years. I became a professional painter in 2011 and have exhibited regularly at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA). I also have had work exhibited at the Worcester Open and Oxfordshire Artweeks.
I tend to favour unusual subjects for my paintings, and attempt to either amuse or bemuse viewers! I am beginning to be known for my regular use of hexagonal canvases which I find add interest to a painting.

x Photographer Hilary Roberts at bGallery

Producing images based on my photography has given me pleasure and satisfaction for quite a long time.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and a Master of the International Federation of Photographic Art but neither of these distinctions has prevented me from creating unusual and original art.
Travels abroad, especially to Cuba, have resulted in many vibrant images.  However, I also love to create pictures taken in the British Isles and I particularly like to produce elegant scenes of my Regency home town, Leamington Spa.  These local pictures can be seen on my website.
Every component of my pictures has been captured by my camera, but I like to make modifications and changes to each image, maybe removing distractions, harmonising colours or building up layers of meaning.  The technical term for this is "fiddling".
A huge variety of subjects are included in my portfolio and all are available to purchase as giclée prints on archival art paper.

x Ann Stringer-Paget at bGallery

Ann is a professional artist, living and working from her studio based in Staffordshire.
Initially trained as a Design Engineer working within the Motor sports Industry, she would paint in her spare time, exhibiting collectively and alone. Her success and love of the creative process, led to a decision to quit Engineering and paint full time.
During the last 20 years, Ann has been dedicated to her first love of painting. She also teaches privately and holds lectures relating to the Work of the Old Masters when time permits.
In the past she has given presentations to Universities and Public Institutions around the UK.
She is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, an active Member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society and an Associate of the American Watercolor Society.
Ann studied Modern and Contemporary Art with The Tate London, qualified for Public Speaking via the English Speaking Board.  She also runs her own Fine Art Tuition Company
"Being inspired is my driving force to paint and I find that there is so much to be inspired by! A moment in the day when the air hangs still, a sound, flash of colour, memories.... anything can be the starting point of my journey into paint ! The inspiration will generally dictate the style of the finished work, be it realistic or abstract.
My process will usually start with sketches, either from life or memory, developing on to the moment of expression in the medium of my choice. That choice will be driven by the feeling or emotion that I wish to express in the work, hence the process could lead to working in oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastels or mixed media ….. it’s the outcome that is so important to me, the process and the medium are simply my most treasured and dynamic travelling companions, accompanying me to my final destination."

'I spy with my little eye' Exhibition - Anne-Marie Stijelja

Anne-Marie Stijelja is a mixed media artist, workshop provider and art space curator. Her latest exhibition entitled ‘I spy with my little eye’ fulfils a long held desire to explore art using the five senses and will be on display in the Foyer Gallery of Bedford School from 5 June  – 3 July where Anne-Marie also works part-time as an Art Technician.

OPENING HOURS
Mon-Fri 9.30-4.00 / Sat 9.00-12.15
www.bedfordschool.org.uk
On visiting art galleries, Anne-Marie confides that she has difficulty stopping herself from touching the work on display. “I have an urgent compulsion to touch every sculpture I come into contact with, in order to help me understand its form and gain a real connection with the piece.  I am continually frustrated when I see children warned off touching objects when they are intrigued by what they are confronted with and all they want is a greater understanding through touch.”
As part of the preparation for this exhibition Anne-Marie worked with the visually impaired at the ‘Touch and See’ workshops at Bedford Arts and Crafts Centre at Raleigh House in Bedford.  This provided a significant insight into how art can be ‘seen’ and created by the blind and visually impaired, with some of their work included in Anne-Marie’s exhibition.
Pieces on show range from a giant kaleidoscope, enabling visitors to look through and create their own unique patterns to a ‘Touch Me’ mystery box requiring the visitor to delve inside - if they dare. There is also work influenced by Braille as well as motion sensor triggered audio works. Visitors are encouraged to play musical vessels, smell ice cream and taste something yummy too.
The exhibition includes collaborations with local artists including; Carpenter: Tom Frost
3D Artist: Darren Tyrie
Sculptor: Jim Francis
Bakers: Sam Rose and Pavilion at the Park.
Anne-Marie says that everyone is welcome to the opening night on the 5 June 7.30pm – 9pm.
Following the exhibition some of the work will move to Bromham Mill to join a textile exhibition with ‘Demo Day’ on the 5 July after which, Anne-Marie will be holding sculptural felt making workshops at Arts and Crafts Centre on 20 June and 4 August, Bromham Mill 13 September and Retirement Education Centre on 7 November.
